There is increasing expectations from different stakeholders, including customers and investors, on companies to have stronger supply chain transparency and disclosure. This is compounded by numerous legislation globally including the UK Modern Slavery Act, Australia Modern Slavery Act and others such as the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act requiring companies to monitor the risk of modern slavery occurring in their supply chains. Customers are also demanding to know and rejecting products or services if they are tainted with forced labour or human trafficking. These expectations put on companies are forcing them to engage with suppliers, several of which are small and medium enterprises (SMEs), asking their suppliers and vendors to comply with their supplier codes of conduct.
This session will provide an overview of the increasing pressure for supply chain ethical sourcing due diligence and the resulting implications on SMEs, what to expect and how to respond to their customers’ request for supplier information and increasing supplier due diligence.
